Education & Campus

A Unified Vision: at Campus Augarten, children thrive in an educational ecosystem spanning primary school to university entrance qualification. Our holistic approach integrates world-class music, academic excellence, and personal growth

A Seamless Educational Journey

Campus Augarten combines elite schooling with an innovative pedagogical approach. Our primary school (Musikvolksschule), lower secondary, and upper secondary schools offer a continuous path from age six to graduation, focusing equally on musical mastery, academic rigour, and personal growth.

Rigorous Academic Standards

Our educational philosophy fosters individual strengths, independent thinking, and social responsibility. Following the official Austrian national curriculum, our teaching incorporates modern, tailored learning methods—from project-based work and self-directed weekly assignments to interactive learning stations.

Dedicated Personal Guidance

A highly collaborative faculty, supported by specialist tutors, speech therapists, and learning coaches, guides each student along their path. Modern digital resources, including smartboards and iPads, are seamlessly integrated to foster contemporary media literacy.

A Balanced Daily Rhythm

The daily schedule balances academic lessons, choir rehearsals, and active recreation. Monitored study periods, sports, and targeted support for assignments or social development ensure a healthy, productive routine.

A Vibrant, Multi-Age Community

Our unique campus culture thrives on connections across age groups, allowing younger and older students to learn from one another. The "VBC Family" is a lived reality—defined by mutual respect, strong camaraderie, and shared artistic and academic goals.

FAQs

No, formal musical training is not a prerequisite for admission, particularly at primary school level. We look for a natural joy of singing, a strong sense of rhythm, and a genuine love of music. We nurture that love, and gradually teach the necessary vocal technique, music theory, and instrumental skills.

Our daily routine carefully balances academics, music, and recreation. The morning is dedicated to standard academic lessons following the official Austrian curriculum and to choir rehearsals. In the afternoon, solo practices and individual vocal coaching alternate with supervised study periods and free time. With our own sports fields, gymnasium, and indoor swimming pool set directly on campus, staying active is a natural part of life.

Our boarding school provides a vibrant, family-like environment where the boys genuinely feel at home. A highly experienced team of educators provides round-the-clock guidance, creating both a clear structure and a warm, supportive atmosphere.

Homesickness is entirely natural, especially in the beginning. We help the boys navigate this transition through shared activities, shared experiences, and a close-knit, welcoming community.

For local families, our campus offers the flexibility of weekly boarding, allowing the boys to spend weekends at home. For our international choristers, the boarding school remains a lively, fully staffed home throughout the weekend, filled with excursions and recreation.

Fees vary depending on the school level and enrolment status. While our primary school operates as a day school, all members of the Vienna Boys Choir are required to board full-time. Conversely, members of the Vienna Girls Choir attend as day students but share the same heavily subsidised fee structure as the boys.

Because we believe that musical talent should never be limited by financial background, all choristers essentially receive substantial institutional scholarships. The current fee for a choir boy or girl comprehensively covers tuition, vocal training, meals, boarding (for the boys), all international touring costs, and essential travel provisions.

The fee overview can be found on our fees page. For families requiring further assistance, we are happy to discuss additional bursaries and individual fee reductions during a personal consultation.
